It's allways hard to keep an objective view on a project after working on it for days and "pixel-fking" all the details... And allthough we didnt go for splatter and kept it all pretty suggestive, I can see now that it still might be a bit too much for the little 'uns. We are still trying to reach one of the moderators from KitKat to find out exactly why they rejected it, (we just got a standard layout happy kitkat reply mail with one sentence added: "your entry just got rejected") but we'll probably do a re-edit and rework of the sound (less screaming) and try again... From an American advertising perspective it felt like it had the style of horror/torture movie for the first bit but then shifted drastically to the cheesy candy bar style. I understand that this shift was part of your design but there needed to be some queues that hint to the viewer that this is in fact something different. Here in the States there was a commercial for a new cell phone by Sprint that also used the horror theme but the advertisers added queues for the viewers to indicate the difference. Sprint Halloween Instinct Phone Ad *There is another video that does the integration better. I wasn't able to find it on before I posted this. My memory of the commercial, much like the one above, felt a lot like an American horror movie trailer but they changed the color pallet and added a certain level of comedy. Not that your piece or audience are or should be the same. Nice work so far.
