Anyway, I just bought a Macbook. Installed Bittorrent, downloaded a video torrent off a reliable torrent site (one that worked with my Dell before)
First when I clicked on it, the Mac came up with some weird message about wanting to open it in Finder. I went into Bittorrent and manually opened the torrent. It said Error: aborting torrent, unable to find peers or tracker The file was a pretty popular one, so there were people seeding it. I then tried with an ebook torrent and the same thing happened. I've tried it with Transmission, and still I can't get it to work. I have a feeling this is something to do with directing ports- but honestly I'm completely retarded when it comes to this stuff, and I haven't found any information reliable enough to convince me to start playing around with my internet settings- Help would be very appreciated! |

If it's the same transmission as linux just check edit -> preferences -> network and wait what the text next to "incoming port" is saying. If it says "port is open" it's nothing to do with your internet settings. If it shows "port is closed" you either need to forward that tcp port to your internal ip (the 192.168.*.* one) or open the port in your firewall.
I know nothing about macs though mind you. You might have better luck in gen tech. |
