hello,
I just read some articles saying that utorrent developer has relationships with MPAA and other anti-copyright company. What is your opinion ? I'm realy dissapointed with utorrent if that's true. Should i switch to deluge or bitornado ? |

So far, as I'm lead to believe, there's been no instances of personal information being reported from your client but what we will have to look for is changes in any upcoming releases.

lol Most wouldn't, but I have a unique firewall set up that monitors outgoing traphic, saves outgoing IP information, and I haven't seen anything in the logs about reporting data, and the traphic looks legit

If utorrent was reporting anything to the MPAA then I'd think that the client would be banned on most if not all private ratio bt sites. As it isn't banned from use on private sites then I think you can take that as a good sign.

I'd say that you're relatively secure even if uTorrent was reporting stuff as long as you're using something like PeerGuardian, which blocks all connections to known MPAA sites and the likes of them.
Am I wrong about this? Also, I find richmimi's argument rather reasonable. |

Ask yourself - in who's interests is it to spread rumours against Torrent clients? Just another battle in the futile war IMO.

I agree with you, but ludvig, utorrent's developer said that he would stop to develop utorrent if he couldnt afford it, utorrent is bittorrent inc posession right now , and its owner bram cohen is cooperating with mpaa, so I said why not ? I think you are talking about proganda, but they could do the same thing with other non-open source client, and they didnt there are two options here 1) utorrent is sending data to 3-party ppl 2) They didnt do with other clients because, they are not so popular and they wouldnt have the same affect like utorrent had. (from what you said I guess you take the second option

Basically, any claims that uTorrent reports info back to the *AAs have been totally unfounded FUD. Nothing has been proven because it just plain isn't happening.
