Hey soupers!

As you can see my avatar is gone it wasn't anything special to begin with but now since it is gone I think its overdue that I finally make one biggrin.gif

I see some high quality animated gifs that were taken from video clips y0da's comes to mind right away.

What is the best practice method of:
1. Extracting the frames
2. Resizing/resampling the frames
3. What software is best for this.
5. Whatever steps you think I am missing!

Thanks all in advance,
TNWM

Hey , the best software for this would be , Photoshop CS3 ( Look Out For My Torrent Soon )
You simply Drag and Drop a Clip into the Program , right click on the time line and click " Make Frames From Video "

Simple ;]

Then you Can Delete un-needed Frames Ect..

if you'd like me todo you one untill you've managed to get Photoshop CS3 , or untill i upload the torrent , i'd be more than happy smile.gif

Just Send me a link to the file , perhaps would help if you took a clip from the specific , movie , tv program ect smile.gif

hope i helped , If none of this did..

Good Luck Finding a Decent Program for the Job , and be sure to share it with US biggrin.gif

I use Pinnacle Studio to make a small AVI file, then import it into Coffeecup Gif Animator. About 10 frames @ 120 x 120 is optimal for photorealistic video to produce a small enough GIF.

My "seagull" avatar was shot using my videocam in Brighton, UK early this year, and put through the process above (120 x 72px approx 60k)

- VirtualDub to turn an .avi into images (filtering is possible too)
- Paint.Net + Scriptlab Batch Processor plugin to add some effects/filtering
- GIF Movie Gear to turn the images into an animated .gif, with optimizations applied to reduce the size.
