Having a NAT problem with Azureus 2.5.0.4. Can't find a good port. Port test stops automatically after 20 seconds on most tests saying it's not a good port. Other tests say port in use.
I'm using Ubuntu, Hardy Heron 8.04, AMD 64 chip, 2 Gigs memory and lots of disk space. Modem/router, no problem.
Even with that I'm DLing at over 300 KB/s and ULing at 20 some. Makes me shake my head.
I am a new Linux user so not too good at command line work.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Haven't used azureus for ages. I'd use another client tbh. From the linux clients I have tried I like ktorrent best.

If you want to use azureus just choose your port(range) manually and forward those to your IP if you're behind a router.

Thanks for trying but as I said above, that's not working. There are several thousand ports to choose from, should I try each of them? Tried about thirty or so with no luck.
Any other guesses?

You should choose one at random (between 10000 and 50000 or so), and forward that in your router. I don't know if Ubuntu has a firewall running by default

I don't think so. I've been able to use azureus, deluge, transmission, ktorrent and even utorrent through wine by simply choosing ports and forwarding them in my router.

I use deluge's site for portchecking btw: http://deluge-torrent.org/test-port.php?port=insertporthere. Works with any client.

The reason I don't use azureus anymore (neither in windoze nor in ubuntu) is that it's a resource hog in both and it had issues with trackerd in ubuntu (that was ubuntu edgy though, I'm not sure how it is nowadays).

I think Hardy does run a firewall by default..

Have you tried opening up your routers control page within Firefox and editing the settings in there?
