I want to connect my Xbox 360 to my pc to stream films and music however it say that I need to be running a Windows media center PC... Im not as i only have home edition version 2002. Is there anyway to legally obtain an upgrade to media centre which will not cost the earth ... Im a bit bummed out at this cos it was one of the reasons why I got the Xbox.
As usual any help is appreciated |

cheers Xu, your right media center is on Vista but im on XP....I think there is an XP 2005 media center however im loathed to download and instal a dodgy copy of windows. I have seen an XP converter floating about on the usual NZB sites but im not sure if they will wipe my computer when i install - as in format everything or just convert to Media center

It keeps your present copy of windows & upgrades it to media center edition. QUOTE This disk will allow you to upgrade your windows
xp to windows mce and retain your valid/legal liscense. No need to purchase an MCE liscense. |

its a shame but tthe bloody thing wont install correctly. When I have tried it says that there is an error - im thinking off just upgrading to Vista, a legit copy and it will be able to do what i want.

cheers for the link YMG, I am banging my head against a brick wall here though.
I have tried using media player and connecting my Xbox straight into my router and also tried it directly into my ethernet port on my PC and Media player will net see the Xbox....starting to annoy me now. |

Most likely be either a firewall issue or an IP range problem.
You may be able to change IP etc directly from the xbox itself, as this tutorial seems to imply. |

cheers for the help chaps...Im at the end with media player however i have been able to get TVersity working, some minor problems with the firewall however the WMV picture streamed to my TV is awful...very bloky so Im gonna try to sort out AVI on Xbox tonight
Edit: Im now the happiest little git in toyland... My Xbox is talking to my pc and I can watch all the films stored on my Ipod without having to hook up my laptop. Godda say TVersity seems really easy to use and I would recommend it to anyone....Thanks for the advice chap. This post has been edited by Siris10: Aug 12 2008, 07:52 PM |
