I use this handy little site to find the cheapest gas in my area. Prices are in $CAN/L but if you click over the border they are in US $/GAL. Some people translate the US prices into $can/l. FYI I live in Mission, just outside the Greater Vancouver Regional District so my gas is 9c cheaper as it avoids a transit tax you pay further in. I'm also about 20mins from the US border so sometimes it's worth going down there although WA state gas has a reputation for being crap and wrecking your engine around here.

The UK, and the EU, sure have high fuel prices. I think we're still at less than half of what you pay. I wonder though, with the massive influx of cash from the taxes on fuel sales, if UK*-ish roads are any better for it? (I suspect not with the road use and congestion charge taxes that now exist).

* what is the correct term for someone from the UK? British? English? I try both with varying success but don't really know which is more general.

British. Only people from England are English. The roads in the UK are rubbish. Narrow, potholed, constantly being repaired. You wouldn't believe how many traffic cones they use over there. Mind you the roads in Ireland are even worse as they are all in Britain repairing the roads!

The roads in Yakima aren't too hot either.. There aren't many pot holes but there are really deep ruts from all the truck traffic. Dutch roads and roads in Illinois are great. Generally not too interesting to drive but they're not going to damage your suspension.

I'm English living in a crappy England where the taxes are high, the rewards are low, the
weather is sh*t and the roads are a disgrace. I live in the Home counties (Surrey)which is supposed
to be one of the most affluent areas of Britain and have to pay a premium for the privilege
to do so. I have a great love of the English countryside and still say that a warm sunny English
summer is very hard to beat, but that said as soon as my lottery numbers come up I'm out
of here and plan to move to Torrenter's neck of the woods ............. if only!
