Do any situations come to mind where you wanted to do something that you knew was wrong but didn't do it?
Why didn't you do it?

Have you ever done something that you knew was wrong?
Why did you do it?

I'm just tossing this out to try and start some conversation. smile.gif

Good topic!

I was once offered the chance to have a person, that was causing me some real problems, sorted out in a permanent way. The guy who offered to organise it, is someone I've know for years and is, shall we say, heavily involved with groups of people who are well know to the police.

He told me that he has some people that are "quite good" in the particular city this person lived in, and if I wanted, he'd have them pay this person a visit one day whilst I was at work (with a cast iron alibi)

To be honest I was horrified, but a little devilish part of me, deep down inside, thought it would be great. Needless to say, I thanked him for his "kind" offer but politely declined it.

Great topic zoomer,

In a simialr vein to YMG's I had a mate in a pub once and he offered to do some serious daamage to a girl that completely terrorised our family in several ways. Needless to say I declined the offer but honestly, to this day a part of me regrets not taking him up on it.
I have never met such evil wrapped up in such a pretty package. mad.gif

I just bought something off an eastern european gent I met online. When I went to pick it up and told him my sad-ass unfaithful woman/ex-best friend story he offered to have them both offed for 5 grand apiece. Gave me a good laugh when I needed one. Couldn't leave my kid without a mum though. The ex-best friend; hmmmm now he's a different story! Me and the hitman are going fishing next week.....

When my kids' mother left the family after having an affair, I was extremely tempted to speak badly of her when the kds asked the inevitable questions, particularly when she didn't bother to contact them for 2 years; but resisted. Naturally, I'm very glad I didn't now, but when I was angry and hurting it would have made me feel a little better at the cost of hurting my kids more. My son still won't talk to her, but I'm happy it's his decision as I have tried to persuade him many times.

OMG! All this talk of murder and mayhem! Makes me feel a little less guilty about my wicked imaginings about taking someone up on a offer of torrid, wanton and passionate sex. I said no and avoid him now. He's married. sad.gif

I don't think I've ever really wanted to do something, and then not done it. Certainly, in terms of sex and drugs and so on, if its offered, and I want it, I've done it: I have no qualms about affairs, or about spurious governmental advice on maintaining my good health.

I guess its a question of semantics. To me, if you actually want something, you do it. If it's something that you may or may not do, then it's not a want, just a temptation.

To put it another way, its maybe about how closely you define what you want. You may want a particularly end, but not want to do the things you'd have to do to achieve that end. I tend to try to restrict my active intentions (rather than daydreams) to those things I can have without breaking my own moral rules, and to be honest to myself about which is which. So, when its the end of the month, and I'm broke and hungry, I want a nice steak. Similarly, when a pretty girl walks past, the caveman in me wants to drag her off to my cave. That doesn't mean I want to be a shoplifter, or a rapist, though.

----------

For the sake of the thread though, here's an anecdote, and probably the closest I've come to do something I consider seriously immoral. A few years ago, I had a very generous boss, who used to take me out of an evening, and buy me huge amounts of alcohol and cocaine. I think he was a bit lacking in confidence, even though he came across as an Alpha Male, and figured he had to spend money to get people to hang out with him.

One night, we'd got drunk, and he suggested getting high. Being as I am, I assented. He drove us into North London, and pulled up outside a terraced house. I follow him in, thinking its a dealer. When we get in, there's a middle age chinese lady manning the operation. I try to explain that this isn't my thing, but he disappears off to one room, and tells me to wait for a bit in another.

The room stinks of sweat, spunk and baby oil. A few minutes later a young chinese girl comes in, and makes it clear that boss man has already paid. She's (reasonably) pretty, but clearly close to 16, and probably not on the good side of it. I spend the next half hour, trying to explain in simple English why I don't want to fuck.

I guess I did want her, a bit. I didn't want to be a punter though, and I didn't want to sleep with someone who wasn't really consenting.

well, when my best friend held me at gun point and robbed me of all my hard earned money, i certainly had a mind to end his piss poor existence. But he was like a brother to me. What can i say, i'm a big softie. That meth got the best of him.

as for things that I knew where "wrong"
well, i suppose that depends on what you consider wrong. Is it what the law says is wrong or is it what you believe to be wrong. because, well, if I offered a service worth a few grand a week in the black market, well, i say good for me.

Oh, then there was the first time a got a hooker. I felt terrible about it, for about 2 minutes. smile.gif
