Hello guys!

I have been researching and trying almost every torrent tracker source and software that i got my hands on the last couple of weeks before deciding which one to use for my site. But i must say that i am surprised to see that many of the scripts feel outdated and old the best complete package i found is TorrentTrader based on TBDev source, of course TBDev Source is good to.
The problem that i see is that first of all most of these use some php stuff for the actual tracker and i don't feel that way is the one for me. So i tried TorrentTrader XBTT version instead and damn thats some fast resource efficient stuff just like i want it.

But also here i stumbled upon some issues about what i want and don't want in the frontend which brings you to modifying the code and remove or add the things you need. But this clutters up the code and you will be having trouble when there is a new release of the frontend and this is just giving you extra work and headaches in the long run.

Then i started thinking about finding some people that would be interested in coding a new front end for the XBT Tracker which is much more modern, up to date and optimized as much possible regarding security, speed and ease of use. This of course demands that some people are willing to put time and effort into making hopefully the best front end for the XBT Tracker software.

Since i am not an programmer of PHP, SQL or any other language worth mentioning it is hard for me to start this all by my self i mostly do design, xhtml, css and some small modifications of code. I would need to find people interested in joining this project with skills in php, sql, javascript, java, ajax, web design, templating and any other useful skill that could be needed when trying this.

Thanks to internet and all good programs for communication etc i don't see any problem in having a team of people from all over the world. I'm from Sweden so of course i would want the front end to be in my language instead of English or any other language so its just good if we speak different languages as long as we can understand each other in English. smile.gif

The plan is to integrate other already good and working open source scripts like phpbb for the forums, XBT Tracker for the backend doing this i guess will save us some work and time. Why code a totatly new forum when we can take a good working one instead? Why use a slow php tracker when we can use the C++ XBTT which is much faster and resource efficient?

So most of the work is making a new, faster, easier and modern frontend for the tracker and off course this should also be done as open source so if you are interested don't get your hops up to get rich from this since it's for free.

Is there anyone here that may be interested to join in on such a project? Or maybe someone you know may be interested? If so write here or send me an PM or email and tell me what you can do!

Hope someone may find an interest in this!

PS: I have a server etc located here in Sweden for testing and development of a tracker, i can also fix web space, domain etc for the project if we get anything going!

Regards,

I suggest you to take a look at xbtit (http://www.btiteam.org) which is like what you want, it's xbtt fronted or php backend, it's updated and support smf forum.

Hello there Lupin!

I have looked at that software and tested it and was quite impressed but it still feels to over whelming with functions and other things and the whole front end feels a bit how should i say to much. But i may end up running this but making some custom template which is much more clean.

Thanks anyway Lupin!

Yes of course you could pay someone for doing everything but since im more aimed at releasing something as open source it doesn't quite feel right to pay for something then ship it of as open source.

And for the moment i do not have the funds to pay someone to do this.

I do not want money, I just want a proper tracker source, nothing else ..

Have you guys seen the source me and Paaskehare is working on? We have alot of unique features ..

http://primo-nordica.net try signing up ..

Write me a PM if you're interested ..

We are currently going to move to a server in germany soon, so please excuse me if you are meeted by a suspended site, but we will be up again as soon as possible ..

I want to make it a XBTT source only, I also do not like the resource demanding PHP-trackers, but I just got to try XBTT and it's still not very good documented, I would like to know anything about the database structure of XBTT and the config variables and what they do, so far I've not managed to find any info about it ..

Currently I have the XBTT source from Project Gazelle, I was unable to get a succesful compile out of the official Olaf SVN, although I installed all required dependencies on Debian, but it might be a small break after an updated revision, I am looking forward to seeing more documentation of the XBTT tracker and I would love to do the PHP source ..
