Well I found nothing on McAfee yet "Snoops(?).com" did find http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/stripedicebergs.asp as a hoax, I also got http://www.hoax-slayer.com/striped-icebergs.shtml but that was it!!!!
ONLY 2 links to a hoax... Is this thing real or what??? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amazing striped icebergs Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions. Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe. Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ... Is this amazing?? Antarctica Frozen Wave Pixs - Nature is amazing! The water froze the instant the wave broke through the ice. That's what it is like in Antarctica where it is the coldest weather in decades. Water freezes the instant it comes in contact with the air. The temperature of the water is already some degrees below freezing. Just look at how the wave froze in mid-air!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

cool topic. The image links aren't working. Try downloading the images to your harddrive and then uploading them to FS and inserting them into the post.

Cool beans!
Hoax or not, they're beautiful. That's the one place I would die to visit. Antarctica. |

Stunning pics.
I would take a guess at the top on being fake. Just looks so out of place. Going with the colour of the surrounding sea and sky, the berg , I would think, would be a lot duller and not reflecting light like it is on top. Most of the bottom, glacier looking ones, I have seen before, so would say that these are real. |
