Looking back at Filesoup from a few years back on a link that Lut had posted has got me wondering. What can we do to get some life back into the Soup?. So this time, instead of holding Staff Meetings galore on the subject I am going to ask you, the members, What do you want on Filesoup?. I'm not saying we can implement everything suggested but if it's reasonable and looks worthwhile we may well give it a shot.
So, What do you want from us?. |

Hi, I just popped back on here after your email
This is probably gonna be my first post. What I'd be looking for is maybe a guide on how to use these NZB files. I know it's something with news groups, but I can't find a handy tutorial anywhere on here. I tried using the search but it wants 4 characters, so i tried nzb downloads and still gave me an error for some reason. It seems like you guys have some nice content on here, and a really friendly community. I guess what would probably help bring people back is if you did weekly updates, I mean of course not have direct link to the files but links to the popular posts. From my poking around I really like the TV guide format But it looks like all of your torrent links are off of public trackers? Is this true? because i'd be less interested in the torrent content if it's all public, I like these small communities not just for the people but for being safer. I mean if you want I could run a tracker for you, i've set one up before for another project, it's not too hard. But back to the topic, if I can find a way of getting your other content off the site, I'd be more then happy to throw some money to a good cause. (specifically the part i'm confused about is setting up news servers, am i really supposed to ask my ISP and use their server? isn't that asking to get in trouble?) Thanks for the help guys keep up the good work! EDIT - just found out i should be looking for "newsgroups" not nzb lol This post has been edited by coolzero: Jun 4 2009, 06:08 PM |

Once the news server is set up its really simple and fast to use. My ISP gives me 3 connections so im Dling at 172kB/s which is great, if I paid for it i could get more connections and much faster downloads but for now im happy....just waiting to get the 20 meg BT are promising - My exchange is not being upgraded till 2011 |

I rarely download anything. I don't like the shoutbox. I rarely spam. It would be enormously useful for me if we could get a few of the old LPP assholes back for a good old chinwag. Things seem to have died a death in there recently.

This is a tough post...every member has their own criteria of what they would like to see...and no way are you going to please everybody..
So, how about a new pane under the shout box, showing upcoming movie releases in theatre's (trailers) direct from here:- http://www.flixster.com/ There is a link in there to copy, but I dont know how it's done, i'm no techie.. I'm just tossing this out there, take a look anyway.. |

A web cam hookup to all the women on Filesoup.
I would honestly like to see you Snookered and Geeker take a more active role in making posts in the Madhouse and LPP. Speaking of Geeker... |

I must admit, this place was a blast 4 or 5 years ago, don't know why it went down hill. Spam Central was good fun. Then you kept having the hacking problems, having to change server, losing members details etc. Then you used that shitty board interface (this ones not much better, or is it the same one?)
I keep looking and mean to post more, but I seem to use POTUK more nowadays. Also while I'm on a moan, why do I keep gettig bumped to the stupid ads that I have to "Skip this F*****g Ad" or something. It looks cheap and and what you expect off porn or warez sites. Think about what it was and get back there. And where is Faerie? This post has been edited by yorkie: Jul 3 2009, 08:57 PM |

The Full page ad, which is set for once in every 12 hours would not be needed at all if even 10 percent of the member's visiting daily would visit our Sponsors on a daily basis. As it is very very few do and if it wasn't for them plus a couple of timely Donations Filesoup would not exist at all.
The server bills have to be paid somehow though and the Full page Ad, however annoying it is helps a little in that regard. The board interface has not changed that much over the years. But this is what I am after, I want member's to tell me why they dont post anymore so I can try to address the problems so Thank You Yorkie. Rightly so, we had the server problems but we were also hunted down by Brein too so there was a lot going on then. As I have written in the past, when we finally did get back up and stable there were a lot that simply did not come back but that is their right. As to Spam Central, I have been on dozen's of sites with a version of Spam Central or The Madhouse as it's now known and the Topics are essentially the same everywhere. I used to spend many an hour laughing in there years ago and I still have a chuckle now but the members who started all the story based topics that were so good are ALL gone, mostly to create their own sites. @yorkie, if you pm me with what you mean about interface I'll certainly listen mate. |

Think about what it was and get back there. And where is Faerie? When i joined this place was buzzing too. I really enjoyed spending time on the soup. So much information and so many people with interesting things to say. I kinda dont visit much any more as its always slow and now that im at uni im often occupied. What i do find interesting is that my local Street bike forum with just over 10,000 members is way more lively than this place. That forum would only have about a 50% active member rate if that. I think because of the time differences and having such a wide variety of members it may not seem as active anymore, also since many people have moved on. Some of whom were huge faces around the soup. As for what im after, i can't really answer that. I just drop in every so often to see whats going on. I never even used this site for anything torrent related really. It was mostly gen/spam and legal political and philosophical. Maybe a few posts here and there in other areas. Dont get me wrong, i really appreciate the effort put in by everyone involved in the soup. Its just not a place i can spend alot of my time anymore |
