First you will need all the tools: {Vdub & Srt2Ssa are also attached for download in case my site is offline, see below} http://ramons-ph.gotdns.org/img/srt_divx/vdub1.6.10.zip http://ramons-ph.gotdns.org/img/srt_divx/srt2ssa.zip http://www.videolan.org/ QUOTE If you want convert the 'converted divx' file to dvd, use one of these tools: [I recommend TMPG] http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_main.html http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/ QUOTE If you just want to play the divx file with your .srt use this method: Just open your movie you want to watch with VLC player.. When the movie file play do: {Video >> Subtitle track >> Track1 [Spoor1 in Dutch] and voila the subs will appear in a sec or 2. http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/48a6160a31.jpg MAKE SURE THE MOVIE FILENAME AND THE SRT MATCH AND HAS TO BE IN THE SAME FOLDER ELSE IT WONT WORK! Now lets start with the little tutorial on howto add subs to divx permanently [hardcoded] Step1: QUOTE You dont need to install srt2ssa same goes for vdub so just open the srt2ssa.exe http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/916f076810.jpg Now browse for the srt file you want to convert: http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/6ceee99f4b.jpg Step2: QUOTE Choose type font, font size and color that you prefer and push the convert button: http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/792825c34b.jpg So now were done with the srt file. You will see the .ssa file under the .srt file if you have used the same folder for output. Step3: QUOTE Now we are going to use VirtualDub. Open vdub.exe click on file>>Open video file.. http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/0a11cbec4d.jpg Step4: QUOTE When you have selected the video file were going to open/add some filters for the conversion. Click on Video >> filters: http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/e384f31c0f.jpg When you clicked on filters a new window will appear. Now click 'in the new window' on Add >> another window will appear [add filter window] >> now search in the list for >> Subtitler plugin by Avery Lee: http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/cd3a5c7584.jpg http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/b406cfa6a0.jpg Select the Subtitler Plugin and click on OK >> [again] OK When you have click OK twice a new dialogbox will appear [subtitler config]. Now we are going to browse for the .ssa file we converted earliér. Select the ssa file and click the open button. http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/3b9bd4883b.jpg You may want to have a preview first? Click on the show preview button. Dont want to see a preview just click on OK. Step5: QUOTE Now we only have to select the type of video codec were using for the output video. Click on Video >> Compression >> and select the codec you prefer.. I recommend divx codec if you have that installed 27.gif http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/c4f6a83613.jpg Step6: QUOTE Now we are almost done drool.gif We now jus have to save the file. Click on File >> Save as AVI http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/354894ab81.jpg Select a folder >> give it a new name and voila!! Now we wait and start staring at the screen and let the program do its job. http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/dbcf96a085.jpg Now you have a hardcoded avi file with subs. Now open your favorite dvd converting tool and make your own dvd! I hope that you can understand what im trying to tell since my English is pretty lame and the guide looks kinda messy Blush.gif Anyway, got questions about this topic don't be affraid to ask them. Tips and suggestions are always welcome wave.gif the_tools.zip ( 1.17mb ) : 51 Posted by: woodtogo Mar 2 2007, 05:04 PM Thank_You, Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You, Oh so much for the great tutorial on adding subs. I have been trying to do this in a simple way for a long time, and spent the whole night last night just trying out the method. It worked like a charm for the movie Firewall. I was able to find the matching subtitle and it was great. My father lost his hearing about 5 years ago and this will work perfect for him. Now he can enjoy all those movies that have no cc. or subtitles. I have a question, I noticed the subs are permenent tot he movie, is that correct? There is no way to choose to see them on the TV or not. Or maybe I missed some way to make them optional. If there is can you help me with this? Again thanks bunches. Great Job... applaud.gif applaud.gif applaud.gif applaud.gif Posted by: torrent-tjappies Mar 2 2007, 06:46 PM QUOTE(woodtogo @ Mar 2 2007, 06:04 PM) * I have a question, I noticed the subs are permenent tot he movie, is that correct? There is no way to choose to see them on the TV or not. Or maybe I missed some way to make them optional. If there is can you help me with this? Youre welcome mate. Im glad it worked out for you smile.gif About the subs, they are hardcoded that means it is added permantly on the movie file so you can't choose as optional on your dvd player nor on the computer. Do do that you will need a 'professional' dvd authorizing tool such as Sony Vegas+DVD / Architect or Ulead DVDmovie Factory+.
