Hi all , had people asking me in the past how to install this progrm well heres the guide for all you are stuck with it, i hope anyway
1.Goto Network connections and select the connection you use for the internet. 2.Go into properites of that connection and select 'install'. 3.Click on service and click add Service. 4.Click on 'have disk' and browse to the 'dudez' folder in "Program files" on your HDD. 5.Open the 'xp driver' folder and click on protowall.inf NOT the mp one. 6. Ignore all the "This driver is Un-signed",driver signining warnings and install regardless. 7. Reset your computer That's it you should be done, however for fuller more comprehensive instructions or help got bluetacks excellent web site (links to forum there as well). ------------------------------------------------ And after you've got the driver loaded.... Lets look at Starting Protowall and goto the main page:- Then goto File/Preferences....(The below represent what in my opinion are the most preferable settings, not the default settings)....... I assume you are seeing the screen which logs the incoming and outgoing packets and you see "granted" packets and "blocked" packets. And I also assume you have put the wee tick in the boxes: "Log to video-whenever a packet is Granted and whenever a packet is Blocked" And "Log to disc whenever a packet is Blocked" And "Automatically start filtering whenever the program is loaded" And "Always show the tray icon" And "Enable tray icon blinking if a packet has been blocked" And "Automatically check for a new IP database update every 12 hours" And with reference to "Blocklist manager". To add your program Protowall and/or Peer Guardian (I don't advise using both at the same time). When the proggy starts up it should auto check for Global blocklist updates.( Or will, after youv'e configured the following)....... To auto check for PW & PG (and configure them), goto:- Blocklist manager main screen. Tools/Options/App locations/ Tick the relevant "Enable Protowall Integration" ( You can enable as little or as much on this list as you have got-blah, blah).. Navigate to where your P2p files are E.g.-"C:\Program Files\dudez\protowall\antip2p.p2p" - for Protowall or "C:\Program Files\PeerGuardian pr14\guarding.p2p" for Peer Guardian. These locations are assuming you have used your root drive C: and assuming you are running XP. And by and large that should be it OK. Just a point about firewall integration with Protowall and/or Blocklist. I asked this same question on the PW forum and the best advice I got was:- "Let your firewall do its job and Protowall/Blm do theirs-in other words don't integrate them keep 'em separate, that way it avoids confusion and doesn't hog as much time and/or system resources. Any help you need goto their excellent website |
