You are right, but not being a virgin doesn't stop this from happening.

In fact Virginity could be a major hurdle to the success of a marriage. Why wait until you get married to find out what your sexual predilections are? Why take the chance that your partner is sexually incompatible with you?

The only thing that virginity brings to the marriage is an increased chance failure, and a very short lived cheap thrill for the man.

The whole virginity trip has always been nothing more than a way of ensuring that the offspring will be the man's. It isn't even a protection against STD's because we all know that there isn't a test for the man, and whatever you may think the reality is that the kind of man that would remain a virgin until married is probably the last person any woman should marry.

In the UK the most prevalent STI is Chlamydia and that only accounts for 1 in 10 ... so I have my doubts about the credibility of your figures.

There is a big difference between promiscuity and have sex with a partner in a loving relationship... OK at 18 or 19 we may make unsuitable choices of partner but celibacy is an ancient rite enforced by an archaic religious system, which suppresses good sex education... Ancient text based on the morals of the day where ladies dressed from head to foot in black in a patriarchal society designed to suppress females as dirty or wanton... Should we still exclude ladies from society during menstruation or forbid them from teaching males... Society has moved on... Places like Holland which have very liberal views (i think im right in saying young teenagers are refered to as sex starters in some cases) have the lowest cases of teen pregnancy in europe... BBC

Oh puleeze, sexual incompatibility?? Define it. If you have dysfunctional genitals, isn't that something you should disclose to a potential partner in the dating process? I think virtue has the opposite effect from what you are thinking. A virtuous person is less likely to develop predilections towards fetishes and behaviors that others might find objectionable.

It might surprise you to know that in my specific culture, men and women are expected to remain virtuous until marriage and the young men that you see as Mormon missionaries are not allowed to serve missions if they are not. Somewhere I believe I've seen statistics that show that virtuous couples who marry and remain monogamous have the lowest divorce rate in the nation.

At any rate, it's what I believe and what I teach my kids. It works for me. I'm happy. I don't insist the rest of the world abide by my standards. My kids don't always accept what I taught them, either. But it reassures me that my adult children did get my points because they did make choices contrary to my teachings, found what I taught to be true and now they're raising their children as I taught them.

Too bad most of the other people against abortion don't believe women have a right to choose. Also, they can use my tax dollars to support abortion clinics and yours to support poor mothers having babies. And with your extra dollars there's always Mississippi (with fewer than 5 clinics in the WHOLE state, but very little support for poor mothers, mostly teens).

It's genius, innit!

Well, couples who cohabit prior to marriage are more likely to divorce, that's true... But I think it would be a bit of a stretch to claim that the reason for this is because they slept together before walking down the aisle. Likewise, virgin couples divorce rates have little to do with no premarital sex... there is another dynamic at play here, and not something as trivial as 20 mins of squelchy noises.
