it's good to know that I'm not the only person in the world that thinks there is no justice in the world.... All our laws protect the guilty more than the innocent...

it's good to know that I'm not the only person in the world that thinks there is no justice in the world.... All our laws protect the guilty more than the innocent... How true. I was watching a TV show about America's most violent criminals or death row or some such nonsense. ( I was at work at the time, only half paying attention.) There was a criminal they interviewed who not only killed to get into prison. but killed at least twice more in prison, one of them being a counselor. He admitted openly he had done it. Showed no remorse IMHO, and yet he's still going through the full appeals process on the death penalty he received for his multiple convictions. Now I have to ask, why? As far as I'm concerned, he lost any rights he had the minute he admitted to the killings. But no, we have to follow procedure. |

... and there is your pro death penalty policy quandry IMO. To ensure that someone else doesn't confess to a murder that they didn't do and only confessed under duress you have to offer all manner of appeals. This inturn just makes the length of time between conviction and termination (horrible word) greater and greater, also the cost rises and rises... So why bother with the death penalty, time and time again stats have been produced that show the death penalty isn't a deterrent and that keeping someone on death row for 10+ years while they go through teh appeals process is just as or more expensive than throwing away the key.

Update
A summons has been issued to the beast 21 offenses 6 gross indecency 6 indecency 8 sexual assault without consent and 1 of common assault (this is as I remember from earlier today so the charges may be slightly different but similar).... The courts have allowed 3 other cases to be mentioned where victims other 12/13 yr old girls were intimated and their families threatened into dropping similar charges.... The 3 cases allowed are still to be decided so I'll keep you updated when I hear more... The charges are to be answered on the 16th Dec. and failure to attend will result in immediate arrest... The defendant is very knowledgeable as to the law on under age sex and will try every trick in the book to thwart the law yet again.... |
