So, if they are incapable of jointly pushing forward any of their policies doesn't that mean that the secessionists on their own will get a Québécois nation somewhere around the time the monkeys grind out Shakespeare?

New spending on child benefits and a child-care program if federal money is available.
Think it will be available? I don't. |

Yes.
You need 155 seats for a majority (there are 308 seats and you need half+1). In the last election the Cons won 143 up from 127, the Libs however lost 19 seats for 79. The funny thing is if this does go through we will have had 3 Prime Ministers in the space of 6 months!? The present Mr. Harper then there will be Mr. Dion from the Liberals and another yet un-named PM. Reason for that is that Mr. Dion is going to step down in April due to the fact that he gave the Liberal party their biggest lose ever in the last Gen. Elect.! The Conservatives got way more seats than anyone else - They should be left to lead (at least for 2 years). Anyway here's a song for Mr. Dion. Nick Berry from Eastenders "Every Loser Wins" |

We too have an unelected PM although we don't vote for a specific party leader (the parties do that) the party leader has a big effect on which party get elected... "Floating" voters are heavily swayed by the politician who is to be our leader... Unfortunately when Blair ran away from an unattainable situation for a million a year job doing nothing, Brown was able to sneak in and take the No1 job... Any decent reasonable honest man would have called a general election straight away but realising he was heading for a humiliating defeat, because he is an arse, he stole the job and held out full term... Another joy of a majority government....

None of it really matters anyway. How can any of them even claim to represent the majority of canadians. Nearly half the people didn't vote for any of them.
