Racially discrimination cuts both ways shock horror!

Basically what happened was the Jew's Free School, which is state funded, refused entry to a boy because they didn't think his mother was Jewish enough and has been found guilty of racial discrimination.

Now here's an interesting to do because quite clearly Jews consider themselves to be a racially distinct grouping and quite clearly they reap the benefits of laws that protect them on these grounds. They also benefit from being a population which is grouped by religion. They are unique in that they are the only worldwide relgion that consider themselves homogeneous both racially and religiously (how far this is actually true is open to discussion). So to be a Jew is to be both of the fait and of the tribe.

It looks like the Jewish school and their supporting religious authority the United Synagogues are appealing the decision. If they manage to overthrow the ruling does that mean that the Jews will effectively be above the law? What then should happen to the race laws in Britain?

It will be interesting to hear what they feel their grounds for appeal are. The current decision is pretty clear cut - you can't discriminate on grounds of ethnic background, or race. Quite why 'jew' is classed as a separate race has always been a bit of a mystery - they look pretty Caucasian to me, on the whole.

Not that I think faith-based schools are a good thing. Islamic and Jewish schools are little brainwashing factories. Most Anglican and Catholic schools are watered down versions of the same, though some are VERY watered down admittedly. But it seems that most parents will put up with that for the sake of the almighty 'good school' reputation.

Schools should be secular, apolitical environments, without agendas above and beyond educating children in essential skills, but sticking to accepted best practices on core subjects.

In fact if you were to convert to Judaism some of the ilk wouldn't accept you unless you had Jewish blood, though most would.

Some had issues when the Ethiopian Jews (black jews...yes they exist) sought shelter in Israel, though they were allowed some weren't happy about it.

Interesting note one of the Mossad's jobs is helping with the migration to Israel.

So if there are these two strands of validation for Judaism how do they navigate European standards of anti-racism?

I meant because they were black, there are most certainly "purist" in the jewish community, both racial )skin color) and genetic, but they are in the minority.

The funny thing is that in *any* group of people, race religion, genetic, whatever there will be a percentage that dislike "other".

I bet they find a gene for it someday.

In Northern Ireland we have Protestant schools and catholic schools there are a few mixed schools. However in mixed primary schools the catholic church does not allow catholics to learn about other religions so at the time for RE prods go off to learn about Buddha and the catholics go to be brainwashed and shagged by the priest.... Segregation at it's finest from the age of 4 and this in a integrated school LMFAO... And they say things are changing here.... (a little off topic hope foggy doesn't mind...just thought I'd throw it in ) WE excel at discrimination.....

I'm sure they don't ALL get shagged by the priests.... very many of them will probably just get their bottoms fingered a bit.

well i have been in catholic school all my student life and i even had speakers in of all mayor religions for a week each who thought us about their values and then next year i had most of the minority religions like Scientology and Mormons and alot of others ...was quite revealing and i sticked to being catholic just cause over here they are the least agressive to teach us their values ....these days they so laid back over here its all doesnt really matter no more ....and thats what i like bout it . Only times when u see a full church is at weddings christenings and funerals ....only time we need support from others or the joy of seeing others church is just a way of getting peeps together at times like that i think ....and thats just fine for me


Bout Jews .....well lets just say my opinion about them aint of a high standard ....give a hand they taking an arm .....they will keep on playing the guild trip on us cause of the Germans ......the fact that they are racists themselves doesnt surprise me a bit ....my sons played with some orthodox kids ....all dressed in black with curled hair on each side of their head .....till dad noticed and scared my sons away they werent allowed to mingle ....it was at a playground of the province in Kessel-lo ....they came from Antwerp which is like 2 hours away form there ...... We were home and couldnt enjoy that particular playground cause of them ....will it surprise you i made a bit of a fuzz bout it ...result i was called a racist.... i fumed big time .

I bet they don't. If you look at very young kids, they will play with anyone until they are 'taught better'.
