Homebrew gas
This looks interesting. Puts a pump in your backyard that will produce 35 gallons of ethanol a week. All you need is beer slops or sugar, water and yeast. It does the rest. |

I'm sure there will be as the price of fuel skyrockets. Unfortunately such systems will only service the few who can be bothered. Eventually we'd run out of stuff to put in them if everyone used one.

You can use vegetable oil in Desil engines. Unmodified engines will run on 50% mix in summer and 30% mix winter without adjustment (that's 30% veg oil) This is only for inviornmental reasons as veg oil is dearer than desil at the minute. Unless of course you use old chip oil strained of course. Don't forget to tell the inland revenue as they want to tax you on getting rid of a waste product cleanly and efficiently.
Your veichle will smell like a donut shop as you head down the road so do expect to be followed by a string of police cars... |

So gas boycotters, what are your thoughts on making your own fuel?

The idea seems to be a good one, but the initial expense of the machine is far too high to make it a practicality for the average home user imho

I'm all in for new ideas but I agree with Geeker, "$3,000 down payment toward the total $10,000 tab" is way too expensive.
Besides beer slops, the beer is always finished Well atleast I'd be able to replace beer slops with sugar. |

sorry, I didn't state my question properly, what I had intended to say was in a more general sense where you have to build your processing equipment for another type of fuel, say using a system that uses a wind powered electric generator to break water into hydrogen and oxygen and then using that to power your vehicle. Of course there are many options, what are your thoughts on something like this?
