Greetings Petrolhead Filesoupers!
This the inauguration of a new thread to catalog the spotting cool cars you have seen. For instance just last week when I was visiting my parents in Ljubljana, Slovenia, I spotted an Audi R8 just two cars ahead of the VW Lupo I was riding in. The tail lights suggested that it was something different than the average mini that toddles around the city and with the luck of it being stuck in traffic we were able to pass it and I was able to confirm its identity. Had I had my wits about me at the time I would have tried to capture a picture with my phone. Spotting cars is a fun hobby shared by many petrolheads as we get to see vehicles only seen in car magazines or seen lifeless on showroom or auto show floors. Often times these can be moving times as that ambiance that even the most talented photographer can not capture springs to life before your eyes. The growl of the engine, the poise as the machine accelerates or shifts lanes, swift controlled braking, the gleam of light off a well maintained paint job etch themselves into our minds to be recalled for years to come. Share your experiences here. Tells how this rare or exciting car caught your attention and what it looked like. Cool cars need not only be rare super or sports cars but also classy and exciting modded cars as well. A well assembled tuner vehicle is a testament to painstaking investment of time and expression worthy of sharing. If, unlike myself, you capture some pictures as well that help share your story, more power to you. We are all looking forward to hearing about the cool and rare cars your eagle eye captures...

Is it just me, or is everyone going the wrong way down a one-way street?

I have another siting from my visit in Slovenia. I was at the BTC shopping mall doing some Christmas shopping with my dad when I had one of those double takes. Parked innocently among all the mini Euro cars was a Jaguar coupe. Tan with leather interior it sat there poised and aggressive. Getting closer I was able to discern that it was a late model XK.

Spotted this SLR Mclaren when in Majorca in 2007. Was having a stroll around Portal Nous and drooling over the size of the boats and the cars parked next to them.
If you look in the background of the head on shot, you will also catch a glimpse of a Hummer.

I just saw a Ferrari F430 Spyder.
My car had just died and I had had to push it through the intersection an onto a side street. After waiting about half an hour for the tow truck to arrive, my eyes caught something cool and special. I had been sitting in my car because it was a cool day but got out to look more closely. The lines suggested a sweet ride and the gleam off the paint work demonstrated a loving owner. My reaction to start loading the camera on my phone was well rewarded when as the car turned and started to drive past I was able to see the telltale air ports for the mid engine design. I didn't have too much time to admire its beauty because I had to get the shot which is below.

I saw a late model Jaguar XK, was in front of me in traffic. Again the poise and tail lights gave away the fact that it was different. Interestingly, there was a guy in a suit driving rather than the tshirt wearing car nut that often graces these beautiful cars. He was driving fast but stop lights insured that I was able to get a few shots on my phone. I will have to upload those when I get the chance.

Today was a beautiful day and I took a drive into the mountains to have some of the best fish and chips around. After eating I came out to find this beauty sitting in the lot. The Lotus Elise is a lot more impressive in person at close contact than in photos. This is a 2005 model.

Yeah, I like those. Saw a few in the UK. Wouldn't want to hit something with one though.
