If you ever see me on one of these shoot me.....
Keen to tap into the market for personal transportation devices, Toyota has unveiled a range of 'robots' called the Winglet. The vehicles are the Japanese automaker's answer to the Segway and will be used predominantly to whizz around congested urban milieus. Akin to the Segway in their operation, the user grips the smaller Winglets between the knees rather than through a handle. The body of the vehicle – which is 264mm long by 457mm wide – houses an electric motor, two wheels and internal sensors that monitor the user's position and make adjustments in power to ensure stability. The three models vary on height, with the 'S' standing 457mm tall and the 'L' at 1.1m. The 'M' is 671mm high. The vehicles can be ridden at 6km/h for up to 10km. Toyota is aiming to have the Winglet robots in practical use by the next decade, depending on feedback from various technical and consumer trials. source

I think was created with Japanese consumer in mind. The speed it operates at is about what healthy person can do. In Japan, unlike the US, a substantial amount of walking is done and the top speed will likely reduce the probability of an accident.
I can see BBB in one of these when he's 90. |

If I reach 90 I hope to be on a hover bike... With a mechanical heart, lungs, & kidneys... My bionic eyes will see you coming and my 19 year old cloned girlfriend will kick your ass if you try... I'll be on Viagra Mega Super Plus Max so may be a little tired.....
