Go to Walmart. Buy a $10 dollar grill.
This is what mine looks like. [attachment=44092:grill.jpg] Stick it out on the side porch. You put the metal leg things on and the light the bag of charcoal. It is very cool because you don't have to pile up the bricks or worry about lighter or anything. The entire bag catches on fire and then the charcoal catches on fire and it's all very easy. When the coals are kinda gray all over most of the surface you put the wire grill thing on. Then you put the hotdogs on the wire grill thing. Don't put the hotdogs on before you place the wire thing back on the grill. Cause they roll off when you're trying to line up the slots. Don't ask how I know. So the hotdogs are on the grill and cooking. Turn them as they brown, so that they're blackened evenly. If the charcoal flames up it's not problem. Just turn them more often. When all the hotdogs are almost the desired blackness, get the buns out of the plastic bag, open them up, and put them face down on the wire grill thing for a few minutes. Then you take them up, poke a hotdog and put it on the bun, and then squirt mustard on it. Eat! I never knew that grilling was so easy. I've worked up from hotdogs, through hamburgers, and am about to move onto something more complicated. All with the same $10 grill. |

try marinading your burgers in beer for about 15 mins before cooking....
If your charcoal flames up you can lightly douse the flames with a water sprayer to stop your meat scorching...... They type used to spray on kitchen cleaner....Obviously NOT one that had kitchen cleaner in it.... A treat for the kids slice a banana (with the skin on) about 3/4 of the way through down the length of it... Insert chocolate buttons in the slit... wrap in tinfoil and place on the BBQ turning every few mins until the chocolate melts.. eat with a spoon from the skin.... Power boil corn on the cob in water (for about 10 mins) then cook on grill until lightly charred, roll buttered cobs in finely grated Parmesan cheese a chopped up chilli and black pepper all mixed up and sprinkled on a clean surface.... |

Just so you know, keyed, that has to be the most expensive charcoal you will ever buy.

Definitely gonna try the banana thing. Sounds delicious. And not just for kids! Just so you know, keyed, that has to be the most expensive charcoal you will ever buy. But I only bought the bagged charcoal that first time cause it came with the grill. I actually went out and bought a big bag for my continuing education. |
