depends wat u wish to do with said PC ?
if just surfing the net then tbh it doesn't make much difference which u choose ,on other hand if u want to do a bit of video converting the go for the E8400 as its a fair bit quicker then the E7200 which is basically a cut down E8xxx series ,less cache etc. If your after a gaming machine the tbh id say neither is up to it really on those partic specs ,the gfx card in particular is way underpowered for new games. but if they have a dedicated pci- slot then i suppose u could add a better card later on. but then ofc you would also need to upgrade the PSU as the listed 330w & 460w aint up to running a decent gfx card unforutantly ,minimum PSU id suggest for a gaming card is a quality 600w minimum ,and that means a good brand not some cheap ass 750w really they need to let u mix.match item from both machine to get a reasonable 1 ,IE: the E8400 with 4gb ram and the better Asus board. hope i havent confused you to much as i said it all depends wat u intend on doing with the PC ? have u considered building your own ? it really isnt as hard as u think.. there are literally 100s of detailed free guides online if your willing to look and readup on the subject. |

If I were looking to buy or build a new pc right now I think I'd be going for ddr3 memory.
If price is the issue and you do want a decent gaming pc, you might want to take a look at an amd proc and a better gfx card. But as xu said everything depends on what you'd use the pc for. |

@ Xu and Biebel I think he needs a bit less advanced advice. :-)
My pick: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 6MB Cache 1333FSB Mainboard Mainboard really doesnt matter much Memory 4GB DDR II (2x2GB) pc 667M (If you have winXP or Vista 32bit (the normal one) then your system can only use 3.2 Gb of the 4 Gb. If you can you could ask him to install 3gb only) I would say go as cheap as possible. harddrive Your harddrive doesnt matter much either.Just think about how much you would like to have and ask him to partition it in 2 parts for you so you have a C: and D: drive. videocard DONT GET A 9500 GT IF YOU CAN GET A 9600 GT. It's a HUGE difference. Also getting a 8600 GT is almost the same as a 9600 GT so that is also a cheaper option for you. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powerco...HD_4670/26.html If you go to that link you can see your 9500 GT scoring 54 % and the 9600 Gt scoring a whopping 128% power Cooler Master Extreme Power 460W ==== U want to have a CPU FSB of 1333 Mhz and a memory stick which matches that. So DDR2 800 Mhz (800x 2 =1600) doesnt match but the DDR2 667 does ( 667 x 2 =1333 Mhz). Anything around power 450-500Watts is more than enough for your needs. The motherboard doesnt have to be so expensive i.e. ASUS/ Gigabyte are pretty expensive compared to other brands. If he builds the comp for you, you need not get an expensive 'reliable' board, but rather get a cheaper one with only 1 graphics card slot and maybe 2 or 4 SATA connectors. For example, buying a board with 8 SATA connectors is expensive but you would never use it, and having 2 graphics slots one pci_e 16x and one pci-e 8x was useless for me, so i bought a mmore expensive board for nothing really. Better look for ways to make a more quiet computer for yourself. Actually I just checked. I think an INTEL E5400 and DDR2-800 Mhz memory would be cheaper and better for you. you prolly will never peak 100% on that chip so no need to go for the E8400. and u say mine was to advanced...
actually ddr2 800 is made of 2x ddr2 sticks of 400mhz each giving a total of 800mhz ,same with 667 ram assuming your running it in dual channel mode. This post has been edited by xu: Oct 15 2008, 06:16 PM |

CPU and Ram speeds of the second one is higher.(1333-1066, 800-667) I'd prefer second one.
