I don't think that there is a definative answer to your question. It just boils down to what each of us prefer using.

I use avast! and I have installed it on friends and family computers. When you are online, it updates its database at least once a day. And BTW, it's free for personal and home use.

Same here Avast which also includes On Access Scanner which will block malicious sites from dumping stuff onto your PC
have used it for years now and never had a problem. |

I had problems with AVG free and Zone alarm on VISTA, it was fine on XP though and worked well for me for years. I have recently changed to Comodo and have no problems since

I have recently changed to Comodo and have no problems since 3 PC's running Vista and AVG. No problem on any. Used AVG for years and never had a virus since. Any Virus software needs to be complimented by other anti malware softwae tho. I also use: Spyware Blaster Malwarebytes Anti Malware Spybot S&D Ad Aware Spyware Terminator PC's run tippity top tip. Are you using Zone Alarm as well? I looked into the problem which i was having and there were quiet a few reports of it on google. Im running AVG and Zonealarm on my daughters XP machine and I have never had any problem with them......maby I should use the Microsft antivirus which they will be bringing out later this year This post has been edited by Siris10: Jun 13 2009, 10:05 PM |

Kaspersky for me...I tried all the free ones and they only skim the surface...where antivirus is concerned, getting something that goes down deep and doesnt keep telling you how brilliant it is (like Norton) is the one for me..

Gotta say, I've been around the block with anti-virus. The ppl using my pc have a bad habit of browsing the darker back corners of the web, I've had Kaspersky, AVG, Avast, Panda etc, I gotta say Nod32 free is the way to go. Comes in 2 versions that I've used, one with firewall and one with just the A-V, I'm running the 2nd cause the firewall seemed to be more than was needed. Haven't had an issue since.
