i had to back up my mp3's the other day to re-install my pc. i rar'd all mp3's in 1 big ass 12gb split volume file on 3 disc. now i keep getting an error message when trying to remove them from the disc. i figured it would probably extract better if all the files were in the same folder at the same time but i keep getting the error message " cycle redundancy check". it only extracts like 90% of the disc then completely f@#ks up. is there another way around this?

Have tried the "Repair archive" command under the Tools menu?

Unless you checked the "Put Recovery Record" box when you created the RAR file (disabled by default) then you're going to get little joy from trying the "repair" option, I'm afraid.. even then it's usually a write-off when it's a CRC error.
CRC errors are pretty much an "Oooooh f*ck!" error. This post has been edited by yourmercifulgod: Jun 8 2009, 10:13 PM |

Try the dvds in another drive. It's your best bet.
As a side note: It's pretty useless to rar media files for storage. The room saved is negligible and it adds a lot things that can go wrong. |

I have never used WinRAR recovery records. I just create PAR files with QuickPAR if needed. Also, I would never create a RAR across volumes if I can help it!
What biebel said...media files are already compressed. |

A CRC error is an error reading from the media, not the RAR. As biebel said: try a different drive also try cleaning the lens of your CD/DVD drive and clean the CD with a suitable cloth.

Try using Image Burn or DVD Decrypter and set the read speed to 1x.
