I've written a few lightweight trackers & indexers in the past for friends and associates private use. This time I've taken it further and added a member db and some useful core features, including an admin panel etc. If it were to be compared to anything, it'd be a more efficient version of TB, cleaner and more lightweight coding, with a somewhat 'modular' skinning and graphics system, whilst deliberately trying to keep it 'minimal'.
I'd just like to know what, if any, kind of interest there would be in going open with it and developing it further? Is there a gap in he market for a well coded, secure and lightweight PHP/MySQL tracker? A preview: ![]() It's still early in dev. but the way it's written, it's very easy to add all sorts of features commonly found as 'mods' for other trackers before a RC is issued. I think there will always be a demand for good tracker scripts.

Ok, maybe a better dev. route would be to hear from some Siteops, what the most commonly used and useful 'mods' are, that should be included as standard.
Hacks can obviously be included per tracker, but the core features I'm more concerned about. The obvious are being: passkey, abnormal tfr detection, rss feed, invites~ Off-topic: Just a note to those PM'ing me, unless privacy is required please keep all discussion in thread PS - forums are not included as there are a myriad of options that provide fully independent features and are easily integrated. Since you say that, then yes, open source forums such as phpbb work very well if they are integrated. However, it will be difficult for most people to integrate them, so maybe you could pre-install a forum system in there. Pre-integrate the system so people don't have difficulty.
I believe you should also add an obvious friends feature, messaging PM system, News, a snatchlist, fast announce, category editor, forum editor( could be within phpbb, or Simple Machines Forums), Site log, requests, staff panel, shoutbox, users online, stats, a good user profile. If you can implement that all into an ajax form, it would be great. I am an admin for a small, torrenting site, for me and just my friends. I would be greatly interested in developing for this script. I can make like, themes, and more. try to make it xhtml, but it'll be hard. Other than that, I believe you should make a site or a developers forum so you can get an entire community of people to work on it. I will definitely join the fun. |

OK, had to drop this project for rl commitments, but I'm back on track and have developed it a tad.

Requests Online status Not included: Snatchlist Shoutbox In dev.: Member profile (currently suffices) Forum integration in-built (currently works with IPB, phpBB and SMF) XHTML as Std. |

Its looking good, what would be a really good feature would be the ability to track external torrents, I know torrenttrader already does this but to be honest, torrent trader has had its day. Also the ability to allow guest downloads would be a good feature, a lot of people don't need or want thiers sites to be private.
